(Hanover) -- A local property acquisition group is buying Hanover properties and updating them with a focus on revitalizing the downtown scene.

SPG Capital, named for Shaffer Property Group, owns 105 units in downtown Hanover and the surrounding areas.

"We are focusing a lot of time and capital in downtown (Hanover), which shows we truly believe in revitalization," said Meggie Byers, director of marketing and rentals for SPG Capital.

A number of downtown businesses rent their properties from SPG Capital: Miscreation, Crumb and Get It, StyleMaker and Diversified CutsEXP Realty plans to move into 112 Broadway.

Just Wellness is moving into an SPG Capital property at 104 Broadway by fall 2018. Owner Sarah Stich said Just Wellness will be tripling in size, expanding nail care, skin care and massages as well as adding something new that will be revealed closer to the re-opening.

A "new and exciting" business is potentially going to be moving into 112 Baltimore St., said Byers.

"It is going to be awesome for downtown Hanover," she said.

Byers was unable to confirm the name of the business because nothing has been made official yet.

SPG Capital renovated the space at 6 Center Square above Miscreation in March 2018. It is now available to rent as an event space. The space has been used for birthday parties, baby showers and wedding receptions. It can fit just under 50 people.

The group owns 250 properties between Chambersburg, York, Carlisle and Hanover.
