U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally at Atlantic Aviation in Moon Township, Pa., Saturday, March 10, 2018.

(Moon Township, Pa) -- President Donald Trump is urging western Pennsylvania voters to send a Republican to the House so he can keep delivering good results.

He told them Saturday night at a rally in Moon Township, just outside of Pittsburgh, that his new tariffs are saving the steel industry.

The president was in town to put his weight behind Republican Rick Saccone in the final days of a surprisingly competitive special election for the 18th Congressional District seat.

The seat was vacated late last year following the resignation of Republican Tim Murphy.

The president repeatedly urged his backers to support Saccone and stave off an upset by Democrat Conor Lamb in a district the president won by 20 percentage points over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The special election is on Tuesday.
