(Washington) -- A person with knowledge of the deal says Dave Martinez has accepted a three-year contract plus an option to replace Dusty Baker as manager of the Washington Nationals.

It's the first managerial job for Martinez, who had been working as Joe Maddon's bench coach with the Cubs after the two left the Rays together in 2014.

Baker was let go after leading the Nats to consecutive division titles without winning a playoff series in his two years with the team.
