(Philadelphia) -- The National Constitution Center says it will offer a limited number of complimentary tickets for the 29th annual Liberty Medal ceremony honoring U.S. Sen. John McCain.

Requests can be made on the center's website beginning at noon Tuesday, Aug. 15. Complimentary tickets will be awarded via a random drawing for current center members on Wednesday, Sept. 13, and for the general public on Thursday, Sept. 14.

The Philadelphia museum announced earlier this month that the six-term Arizona senator is being honored for his "lifetime of sacrifice and service" to the country.

McCain joined the Navy in 1958 and rose to the rank of captain during his 22 years of service. In 1967, his plane was shot down over Hanoi, Vietnam, and he spent years in a prisoner of war camp.
