(Ephrata) -- A Lancaster County high school student is in critical condition after he fell from a friend's moving car.

Police in Ephrata say 17-year-old Brendan Holbritter suffered a significant head injury on April 21.

As of Tuesday, he was still in critical condition.

Police say he had been sitting on the back of a friend's car while it was moving

Ephrata Police Lieutenant Chris McKim says it does not appear that the vehicle was moving at high speed when he fell.

The Ephrata School District says guidance counselors are being made available to talk to students.
