(Bloomsburg) -- The Columbia County district attorney is reviewing the police shooting of a mentally disturbed man after he allegedly attacked an officer with an ax and baseball bat.

The suspect, 38-year-old Jonathan Young, remained at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville where his condition isn't being released.

Police from Scott, South Centre and Briar Creek townships converged on Young's Columbia County home Sunday afternoon after neighbors saw Young nailing his windows and doors shut and called 911 to report loud noises.

State police say Scott Township Sergeant Joseph Grassley was hit in the head by Young after police forced their way into the home, and fired twice, wounding the suspect.

Troopers say Grassley was treated and released for his head injuries.

The  DA is also investigating the shooting.
