(Pottsville) -- The merger of two eastern Pennsylvania hospital networks is complete now that the flagship for one has changed its name to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill.
Lehigh Valley Health Network and Schuylkill Health System have formally announced the merger at the former Schuylkill Regional Medical Center in Pottsville.
Lehigh Valley Health Network is made up of five hospital campuses in Lehigh and Luzerne counties.
The newly renamed medical center in Schuylkill County is the successor to Pottsville Hospital, which opened in 1895 and Good Samaritan Hospital in 1923.
