(Halifax) -- State police have identified a woman killed in a collision between a freight train and a sport utility vehicle at a railroad crossing in Dauphin County.

Police say the crash was reported Monday afternoon along state Route 147 in Halifax Township.

29-year-old Trisha Hoffman had been driving her SUV when she pulled out directly into the path of the train for reasons that remain unknown.

A police report says she died immediately.

Hoffman was entering the road from a boat launch access road that crosses tracks that are marked with signs but without crossing arms to block vehicles.

A Norfolk Southern representative didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.

State police say they are investigating.
