(Sinking Spring, Pa) -- Authorities say a Berks County family of five has died in an apparent murder-suicide.

According to a published report the bodies were discovered around 3 p.m. Saturday in the family's home in a subdivision in Sinking Spring, outside of Reading.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams identified the family as Mark Short, his wife, Megan, and their children Liana, Mark and Willow. He says they all died of gunshot wounds.

Willow had undergone a heart transplant as a baby.

Her family had been featured in articles in The Reading Eagle in 2014 and The New York Times in 2015 about her condition and the family's difficulties obtaining anti-rejection medication for her.

The district attorney's office is leading an investigation into the deaths with assistance from police from Sinking Spring and Spring Township.
