(Kirkwood) -- A formerly Amish couple from Lancaster County is due in court for a hearing on charges they gave away their 14-year-old daughter to a Philadelphia-area man after he helped them out financially.

Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus are charged with child endangerment after police found a dozen girls living with Lee Kaplan of Feasterville earlier this year.

Police say Daniel Stoltzfus told them he and his wife "gave" their 14-year-old daughter to Kaplan after he helped them out financially.

Kaplan faces sexual assault charges.

All three defendants remain in the Bucks County jail unable to post bail.

Today's hearing will determine whether the couple and Kaplan face trial.

Kaplan has allegedly fathered two children with the girl.

Defense attorneys have asked the public to withhold judgment on the charges.
