(Palmyra) -- Demolition has begun on six midstate homes that have sat empty since massive sinkholes opened up in 2013.

It got underway yesterday morning in Palmyra in Lebanon County and they had been working with state and federal agencies to find a solution to the three condemned duplexes.

Borough Manager Roger Powl says officials decided to take out a $3 million loan to get the work started.

Officials hope to begin repaving the street next month.

The project is expected to take a few months.
