(Kirkwood, Pa) -- The case of a formerly Amish couple charged with giving their 14-year-old daughter to a Philadelphia-area man after he helped them out financially has sent shock waves through the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country.

Amish neighbors have been speaking of little else as they ponder how two of their own could have fallen so far.

Daniel and Savilla Stolzfus of Kirkwood, Lancaster County are charged with child endangerment after police found a dozen girls living with Lee Kaplan of Feasterville.

Daniel Stolzfus told police he and his wife "gave" their 14-year-old daughter to Kaplan after he helped them out financially.

Kaplan faces sexual assault charges.

All three defendants are locked up on $1 million bail.

On Friday, a judge rejected the woman's request for a bail reduction.
