(Ephrata) -- Authorities in Pennsylvania have identified a 3-year-old boy who was hit and killed by a piece of farm equipment driven by his father.

LNP reports that Shane Zimmerman was hit by the front loader late Wednesday afternoon in Ephrata Township.

Zimmerman suffered traumatic head injuries. Deputy Coroner Robert Granzow pronounced him dead at the scene.

Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni says the boy's death was a tragic accident and that he doesn't expect any further investigation by his office.

This is the second farm death in Lancaster County this year and the third farm accident involving a child.

LNP says Lancaster County leads the state with 54 recorded deaths between 2000 and 2014.
