(Reading) -- A man accused of kicking in the door to his estranged wife's bedroom and opening fire on her as she lay in bed with their daughter has been arrested.

Reading police say Jose Castro was taken into custody Tuesday morning in Puerto Rico. His extradition to Reading will be coordinated by the Berks County district's attorney's office and U.S. Marshal's Office.

Forty-year-old Castro had been banned from the family's home in a protection-from-abuse order obtained by his wife.

The 39-year-old victim, whose name wasn't released, was rushed to Reading Hospital after Friday's shooting.

Castro faces charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Castro's wife, their son and daughter and another boy who was over playing video games with the son all identified Castro as the attacker.
