(Harrisburg) -- Thanksgiving has arrived and Governor Tom Wolf has a special message for Pennsylvanians.

He made a surprise appearance on WITF's Smart Talk earlier this week to offer his holiday wishes.

"Through the normal course of life where we are debating and arguing, especially here in Harrisburg, it's really nice to have a holiday like this where we simply give thanks to all great things we have," he said. "This Thanksgiving, I intend to do that just like I do every Thanksgiving. I want to wish everybody in Pennsylvania the happiest of Thanksgivings. We do have so much to be thankful for."

The governor is spending this Thanksgiving Day at his home in York County.

Wolf also shared his family stuffing recipe:

2 12-oz bags of bread cubes

2-3 onions, sautéed in butter

4 stalks of celery, sautéed in butter

1 cup of parsley, chopped

(2 Tbsp minced thyme optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

4 sticks of butter, melted

Mix all the ingredients together well.

Taste and adjust if necessary, don't skimp on the seasoning.

Use for stuffing the turkey or spread in a buttered baking casserole and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until warmed through and a bit crispy on top
