(Harrisburg) --  A few Democratic state Senators are calling for a special prosecutor to investigate inappropriate emails sent and received by a sitting Pennsylvania Supreme Court justice.

The lawmakers say the scandal should prompt a wider review of the state's justice system.

Senate Minority Whip Anthony Williams is leading the charge for a special prosecutor in the case of justice Michael Eakin.

He is demanding the Attorney General's Office relase all the email addresses involved in the exchange of racist, sexist, and homophobic emails.

He says Pennsylvania's judicial system has been tarnished by the scandal.

"Pennsylvania has a stain on its judicial system. It needs to be wiped off, removed and cleaned," he says. "It doesn't get removed and cleaned by people sweeping a set of facts under the rug."

Williams says he will formally seek a legislative hearing on the emails.
