(Washington, DC) -- On Veterans Day this week, Pennsylvania U-S Senator Bob Casey said he is re-introducing legislation to assist vets in dealing with the disability claims process.

The national average for a disability claim to be processed is 129 days, but Senator Casey says it's higher here in Pennsylvania.

"The number in the Pittsburgh region of our state, which is basically half our state, is 170 days.  163 is the Philly number, and Philly means of course, the eastern side of our state. So even though the numbers have gone down from where we were even earlier in 2015, we're still far too many days," Casey said.

Casey said the bill he has co-authored seeks to reduce that time, through greater participation from all  federal  agencies, as well as improved efficiency at regional VA offices.
