(Selinsgrove) -- Susquehanna University in Snyder County is getting a new nickname.

The Board of Trustees has voted to replace the "Crusader'' nickname.

A new name and mascot will be chosen after consulting with a committee comprised of alumni, faculty, students and staff.

President L. Jay Lemons over the summer discussed the nickname and mascot with key members of the university's community.

Critics felt the it was at odds with the Selinsgrove school's increasing diversity and its commitment to embracing difference.
