(Harrisburg) -- Motorcyclists in Pennsylvania can now show their support for veterans with a special license plate.

The "Honoring Our Veterans" plate costs $35, $15 of which goes to the Veteran's Trust Fund.

"The money that we get from each of these plates allows us to fund improved assistance and support for Pennsylvania's nearly one million veterans and their families" says Joanne Nissley, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

Nissley says the fund is used to distribute grants to several organizations.

"It can be on a variety of levels to reach veterans -- for like say, homelessness, post-traumatic stress disorder or injury. Things that touch veterans all across our commonwealth."

Nearly $34,000 has been raised from the sale of more than 2,200 similar license plates for passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks.

The plate features an image of the American Flag and a Bald Eagle with the words "Honoring Our Veterans" at the bottom of the plate.
