(Harrisburg) -- State Attorney General Kathleen Kane says in her first statement since being criminally charged that she's the victim of an effort to conceal pornographic and racially insensitive emails.

In a prepared statement today, Kane traces the case against her to the pornographic email scandal involving prosecutors and judges, which she exposed.

She says far more people are involved.

Kane has been charged with leaking grand jury information to a newspaper reported as payback to a former state prosecutor and then lying about it under oath.

She says she intends to fight the charges against her.

Kane says her defense will be that she broke no laws, not that she's a victim of an old-boy network.

Through her spokesman, she has said doesn't plan to resign.

Her attorney has said the charges "can and will be defeated.''

Kane is the first woman and first Democrat elected attorney general of Pennsylvania.

She's midway through a four-year term.

Two things can be true at the same time. All of the pornographic emails sent on state computers should be released. Attorney General Kane should resign because she can no longer effectively carry out her duties.
