(Shippensburg) -- A Cumberland County group is holding its first town hall to get a handle on heroin and opiate abuse in the region.

The Community Opiate Overdose Prevention's meeting is planned for Wednesday night at 7 at The Harbor in Shippensburg.

County officials will be available to answer questions and hear concerns from residents.

Opioids made up more than a quarter of the fatal overdoses in 2014 in Cumberland County - more than any other grouping, including all illegal drugs combined.

In one of the hardest-hit midstate counties -- York -- a task force has been meeting with parents and other concerned residents for months to hear about the heroin problem specifically.
