Hersheypark customers complain of false credit charges

(Hershey) -- Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, the company in charge of Hersheypark, received numerous reports from customers that they've received fraudulent charges on their credit cards Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the company said that they have "engaged an external computer security firm" to assist with the issue.

"We take reports like this very seriously. While our company does have security measures in place designed to prevent unauthorized access to our network, we immediately began to investigate our system for signs of an issue and engaged an external computer security firm to assist us," Kathleen McGraw, director of communications, said in a statement.

McGraw stated that the investigation is ongoing.

She also reiterated how important it is that consumers review payment card account statements to see if there are any unauthorized charges on them.

"It is always a good practice for consumers to review their payment card account statements. If there are signs of unauthorized charges, they should immediately report them to the bank that issued the card, because payment card network rules generally state that individuals are not responsible for unauthorized charges that are reported in a timely manner to their bank," she said.
