(Harrisburg) -- The state attorney general's office is filing a notice of appeal in the legal fight over the director of the state Office of Open Records.

Papers filed yesterday say Governor Tom Wolf and the Department of Community and Economic Development are appealing the Commonwealth Court ruling in favor of Erik Arneson to the state Supreme Court.

The divided ruling by the lower appeals court ordered Arneson be restored to his position with back pay.

Arneson says he did do "some work'' at the agency, but did not elaborate.

The longtime Senate Republican aide was appointed by Republican Governor Tom Corbett just before Corbett left office in January.

Wolf then fired Arneson, objecting to the 11th-hour appointment.
