(Reading) -- Authorities say charges are being filed in an early morning shooting that left two people dead on a Reading sidewalk and injured a third person.

Police in Reading say 26-year-old Nathaniel Spencer Jr. of Birdsboro faces two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder and related charges.

Investigators say he turned himself in at City Hall shortly before 5 a.m. today, about two hours after the shootings

Gunfire was reported shortly before 3 a.m. today, and a man and woman were found dead on the sidewalk. Another man found nearby was taken to Reading Hospital.

Chief William Heim said the crime "does not appear to be a random act at all."

Officials haven't released the names of the victims or commented on a motive.

A listed number for Spencer couldn't be found and it was unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
