(Harrisburg) -- More than a month after a midstate prosecutor took over the investigation, there's still no word about possible charges against acting State Police Commissioner Marcus Brown.

Cumberland County District Attorney David Freed's office says the inquiry is still ongoing.

Brown is under investigation for removing two lawn signs that were critical of his decision to wear a state police uniform despite not attending the State Police Academy in Hershey.

He has apologized for taking the signs, and said he wanted to protect his children.

Freed took over the investigation after Hampden Township's Police Chief acknowledged writing on Facebook that he would do everything in his power to keep Brown from wearing a State Police uniform.
