Harrisburg lawyer to lead state utility commission

(Harrisburg) -- A midstate lawyer is taking over as the state Public Utility Commission's Chairman.

Governor Tom Wolf is appointing Gladys Brown as chairwoman, replacing Robert Powelson of Chester County.

Brown of Harrisburg has been a PUC commissioner since October 2013, after working as an aide and counsel in the state Senate for more than 22 years.

She pledges to use a fair and a balanced approach as chair, and says she wants the the commission to focus on educating consumers.

Her term ends in 2018.
