(Harrisburg) -- Democratic Governor Tom Wolf and Republican Senate leader are trading harsh words over the fate of 12 nominations that have been in limbo since January.

Wolf announced Thursday he had sent the nominees and five others to the Senate, saying there was a deal with Majority Leader Jake Corman for them to be considered.

Corman is accusing Wolf of a "complete mischaracterization'' and says his staff told the governor's aides he hadn't agreed to the process.

The stalemate dates to the final days of Republican Governor Tom Corbett's term, when Corbett made nominations that Wolf moved to halt days after he took office.

Wolf's picks include people to serve on the state boards of education and parole, the state university system board and the boards of Temple and Pitt.
