(Reading) -- Authorities are looking for the person who shot and killed a bald eagle in Schuylkill County last week.

The state Game Commission says it received a call from a person who heard a gunshot and found the injured eagle Wednesday night near Andreas.

The eagle died shortly thereafter.

Wildlife Conservation Officer Joel Gibble recovered the bird and spoke to the witness.

He says the agency needs the public's help to hold the person responsible for this  "heinous act'' accountable.
