(Reading) -- A Reading man faces several charges after police say he cooked up and then injected himself with heroin inside a pharmacy last week.

38-year-old James Roberts sat down in a chair and told store employees to call police because he wasn't going to pay for the syringe or a bottle of water.

Police say employees and customers watched him shoot up on Friday afternoon inside the Rite-Aid store on Penn Street in Reading.

He's charged with drug possession, retail theft and disorderly conduct.

His online court record indicates Roberts is seeking a public defender. He's in jail with bond set at $20,000.
