(Philadelphia) -- The U.S. Senate has confirmed President Obama's nominee to the Philadelphia-based 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Attorney Cheryl Ann Krause was confirmed on Monday.

The graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford Law School clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy from 1994-95.

She went on to become a partner at Dechert LLP, specializing in white-collar criminal defense and government investigations.

Krause started the Philadelphia Project, a legal collaboration to improve education for children with disabilities.

She's also served as outside counsel for the city's Board of Ethics and as a board member of the Committee of Seventy, a good-government group.
