(East Prospect) -- Authorities are likening an explosion that destroyed a York County home to a bomb going off, saying it spread debris for about 100 yards in every direction.
The blast occurred before dawn on Thursday, when no one was home in the residence that's located near the Susquehanna River.
Lower Windsor Township Police Chief Tim Caldwell says five people lived there, but at least four of them were on fishing or camping trips at the time.
The county dispatching center was flooded with calls from neighbors who thought the blast was someone knocking on their doors.
The cause is under investigation.
A family dog was outside at the time and required veterinary treatment after being hit by debris.
