Midstate native killed in Afghanistan

(Fort Bragg, N.C.) -- An Army captain from Schuylkill County has died in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department says 29-year-old Captain Jason B. Jones of Orwigsburg died on Monday in Jalalabad of wounds received from small-arms fire.

A statement says the incident is under investigation.

The 2003 graduate of Blue Mountain High School and 2007 West Point grad was assigned 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and on his second deployment.

He was the commander of a 12-man Special Forces A-Team with the Green Berets.
