Dem leaders air mixed opinions on party leadership

(Harrisburg) -- Gubernatorial nominee Tom Wolf's plan to form a new political committee to handle many of the tasks done by the Democratic Party is drawing mixed reactions from some county chairmen.

The comments came as members of the Democratic State Committee began arriving in Camp Hill for Saturday's meeting.

Wolf, who won a four-way primary race with 58 percent of the vote, has said he won't attend.

Centre County Democratic chairman Greg Stewart says he supports Wolf and his new committee headed by Katie McGinty. But he says he'll support the re-election of state party chairman Jim Burn because he's a hard worker.

Montgomery County party chairman Marcel Groen says the gubernatorial nominee should pick the chairman and that leadership skirmishes distract from the real goal of electing a Democratic governor.
