(Chambersburg) -- A small plane had to make an emergency landing in a Franklin County field, but the pilot wasn't injured.

State Police says the aircraft experienced engine trouble at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday near Chambersburg Airport in Greene Township.

The pilot told emergency officials that he was flying at about 4,000 feet when the single-engine plane lost power.

The plane landed safely in a field on the 2900 block of Airport Road. The aircraft wasn't damaged and the pilot wasn't injured.

The name of the pilot wasn't released.
