(Lenhartsville, PA)  Officials say a fiery crash involving multiple vehicles has killed at least three people and closed a stretch of Interstate 78 in Berks County.

The accident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Monday on the eastbound side of the highway in Greenwich Township.

Initial reports from the scene were that multiple vehicles, including a tractor trailer, were involved in the accident and on fire.

Emergency crews from both Berks and Lehigh counties responded to the scene.

State police said they expect the highway near the accident scene to remain closed in both directions for several hours.
