(New Philadelphia) -- A coroner's jury has ruled that a Schuylkill County prison inmate died from an accidental drug overdose, but official neglect contributed to the death a year ago.

The six-member panel deliberated for about 45 minutes Monday before issuing its decision in the March 2013 death of 21-year-old Matthew Koncsler of Shenandoah.

Authorities said Koncsler began serving a drug sentence less than two weeks before he was found dead in his county prison cell.

An autopsy didn't reveal a cause of death.

District Attorney Christine Holman says she will use the findings to push for changes at the prison.

Coroner Dr. David Moylan III says possible changes could include having incoming prisoners X-rayed or putting suspected drug users in cells without running water.
