Corbett ramps up pitch to education, women voters

Written by The Associated Press | Apr 24, 2014 12:29 PM

(Media) -- Governor Corbett is attacking two of his weakest polling points, his job approval by women voters and his efforts on education.

Tom Corbett

Today, he attended the kickoff of a women's committee that'll help lead efforts to attract women supporters to the Republican's re-election campaign.

He attended with his wife, Susan, who told a crowd of about 60 gathered in a suburban Philadelphia restaurant that her husband has a strong record on funding education. The appearance comes a few days after the campaign released a TV ad in which Susan Corbett does the talking and stresses her husband's commitment to education.

Her contention that Corbett increased the Education Department's budget doesn't count federal recession aid for public schools and universities that expired three years ago. Counting that aid, the department's budget remains smaller.

A pity all his adverts are lies, lies, and more lies. Like his first term campaign promise about more transparency in state government. He hasn't earned my vote, or my respect.
