(York) -- Voters in a York County state Senate district will be casting ballots today in a special election.

Former senator Mike Waugh had represented the 28th Senatorial District since 1998, but resigned after being named executive director of the state Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.

He had announced earlier he would not seek another term.

Republican Representative Ron Miller of Jacobus, a current state representative, is on the ballot. So is Democrat Linda Small of New Freedom, a retired Navy master chief petty officer.

Republican Scott Wagner of Spring Garden Township, founder and president of Penn Waste, is asking voters to elect him as a write-in candidate.
