(Pittsburgh) --  A retired employee of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has been charged by federal authorities in Pittsburgh with conspiring to create child pornography, and with sharing and receiving child pornography on his computer.

The defense attorney for 57-year-old John Longo, of Jeannette, declined comment.

Longo surrendered and was arraigned on the charges which were returned under seal by a federal grand jury on March 5 and unsealed Wednesday.

The charges indicate he conspired with another unnamed person to create pornography involving a child whose age is not listed in the indictment, and with trafficking in pornography on his computer.

The incidents allegedly occurred from June 2009 until November 2010. A turnpike commission spokesman says Longo is a former road maintenance employee who retired in May 2011.
