(Harrisburg) -- State Treasurer Rob McCord is airing his first two campaign television ads of the Democratic gubernatorial primary race.

McCord's 60-second ads were to air today, running statewide two months to the day before voters elect a Democrat to challenge Republican Governor Tom Corbett in the fall election.

Rival campaigns say the week's ad buy is more than $1 million.

In the ads, McCord stresses his upbringing by a single mother, his education in public schools and at Harvard University and his business background as a venture capitalist investing in start-up technology businesses.

He attacks Corbett's policy on Pennsylvania's natural gas industry and cuts to education aid.

Four other Democrats are running, including ex-Clinton White House adviser and state Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Katie McGinty, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, former state Auditor General Jack Wagner and businessman Tom Wolf.
