(Sochi,Russia) -- Two midstate athletes are living out their Olympic dreams this week in Sochi, Russia.
The list includes a luger from Columbia County. Berwick High School graduate Jayson Terdiman will be competing in the doubles luge event on Wednesday, and could earn a spot in the luge team relay on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Olympian says luge is a wild ride. "It's like riding a rollercoaster with your eyes closed," he explains. "You're about a foot off the ice, nothing but a helmet and some spandex, just trying to go as fast as you possibly can."
Sleds on the luge track can reach speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour.
Despite security issues, Terdiman says his parents will be in Sochi rooting for him. He says he believes security at the games is being taken seriously.
The midstate is also home to another Olympic luger. 19-year-old Summer Britcher of Glen Rock, York County is participating in the women's singles competition, which began today.
