(State College) -- More than $13 million is going to continue research on pediatric cancer, thanks to another record breaking year at THON.

The 42nd annual dance marathon ended with a grand total of $13,343,517.33 raised in donations.

More than 700 students participated in the fundraiser. The past fundraising record was set last year: $12.4 million.

The money goes to the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, which aims to provide the best care possible, plus support for families and conduct research.

THON is the largest student run fundraiser in the world, according to Penn State.
