(Harrisburg) -- The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is accepting applications for the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship.

Executive Director Heather Wilson says the goal is to keep medical students in PA after they become doctors.

"We definitely want to use these scholarship funds as the seeds of relationship building, where a medical school student says, "I've had a great educational experience here in Pennsylvania, I have wonderful health systems to work for in Pennsylvania and I am going to join the physician workforce in Pennsylvania.""

Pennsylvania residents completing their second or third year at an accredited, in-state medical school are eligible for the $2,500 scholarships.

The deadline to apply is Friday, February 28th.
