(Lancaster) -- A Lancaster County prison guard is on unpaid administrative leave after being charged with beating his three-month-old son.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old Kory Merkey of Elizabethtown is facing charges including felony counts of child endangerment and aggravated assault on a child.

Court documents state Merkey admitted to beating the baby boy several times over the course of three weeks, when the infant's mother was sleeping or not at home.

The child went to Penn State Hershey Medical Center on February fourth and was diagnosed with a skull fracture, two rib fractures and a fractured leg.

The boy is home recovering under his mother's care.
