Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Fatal crash shows perils of Amish buggies on Pa. roads

On November 30, a truck tractor crashed into a horse-drawn Amish buggy in Mercer County, killing the mother and 11-year-old daughter inside.

Since October 1, there have been at least five serious crashes involving buggies in Pennsylvania, killing three passengers, according to news reports. A year-by-year breakdown of crashes involving buggies since 2003 puts Lancaster and Mifflin counties at the top of the list.
