(Lancaster) -- The Lancaster County coroner says an infant is dead after a Christmas Eve shooting.

Dr. Stephen Diamontoni said a 2-month-old baby was shot on Tuesday afternoon. He declined to provide additional details because police are still investigating the shooting, but said an autopsy is scheduled
for tomorrow morning.

Police were called to the Countryside Apartment Complex on Old Philadelphia Pike around 2 p.m.

The infant had been resuscitated on its way to Lancaster General Hospital but was later declared dead.

East Lampeter Township Police say the family has been cooperative through the initial investigation. The bullet was discharged from a family's members firearm, but specific details have not been made public. Police called the incident "isolated".
