(Reading) -- A Berks County entrepreneur is planning a groundbreaking this week for a hotel in downtown Reading.

Department store mogul Albert Boscov has been trying to establish a block-long, four-star hotel since 2007.

He says the last of the financing is in place and a groundbreaking event for the project is set for Friday.

Construction of a 208-room Doubletree will begin shortly and it will open in mid-2015. The nine-floor facility will feature a swimming pool, two ballrooms and a restaurant and bar.

The project is expected to cost at least $56 million.

Charles Broad of the city's Downtown Improvement District said he expects a huge economic boost from the project.

There are 43 Boscov's department stores in six states.
