(York) -- The wrestling program at York College has been temporarily suspended amid allegations of hazing.

The college said in a statement Wednesday that effective immediately, its successful Division III wrestling program is on ``interim suspension from all activity due to violations of the student code of conduct and the student-athlete code of conduct.''

York College officials declined to identify students who may be involved and would not discuss the exact nature of the alleged hazing.

Athletic director Paul Saikia said an investigation is continuing.

The team had been scheduled to start its season Nov. 9.
