(Harrisburg) -- The State Police are cutting around-the-clock security for the wife of Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports  the Cawleys requested the move after it became apparent that state police were spending more on travel costs to protect Suzanne Cawley than what it cost to protect the lieutenant governor.

State police racked up $81,000 in travel expenses to protect Mrs. Cawley between July and September. That's $21,000 more than it cost to protect her husband.

The newspaper says that's because she resumed working in May as a New York City real-estate agent, which required her to spend several days at a time out of state.

State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan says the Cawleys asked troopers last month to stop accompanying her to New York.
