(Glen Rock) -- A chemical leak at a York County business has sent one person to a hospital and forced the evacuation of nearby homes and businesses.fir

But, it doesn't pose a threat to the public.

York County emergency management officials say an undisclosed chemical leaked from two drums in the Bimax Incorporated building located in an industrial park in Springfield Township.

Several businesses and two homes were briefly evacuated due to the powerful odor of the chemical vapor and a section of Susquehanna Trail South was also temporarily closed.

A truck driver who inhaled the chemical vapor was checked out at a hospital after complaining of an upset stomach.

York County 911 spokesman Carl Lindquist says the chemical was an irritant that poses no health hazards to the community.
